Service Matters: Israel Summit

Since the outbreak of the war, despite the significant decrease in tourist arrivals to Israel, tens of thousands of volunteers from around the world have chosen to come and support the country in a practical and meaningful way. This phenomenon has created a new reality where many organizations, which until now had not been involved in volunteering, began developing volunteer programs.
Against this background, two leading organizations in the field of volunteering have joined forces:
Repair the World - An American Jewish organization that sees meaningful volunteering as a central tool for building a thriving and flourishing Jewish community.
Yahel - An Israeli non-profit with 15 years of experience in operating diverse service learning programs for volunteers from around the world.
Together, we have initiated a professional summit that will focus on developing and strengthening the field of international volunteering in Israel.
The Summit will be taking place Thursday April 3 at Design Terminal in Bat Yam
מאז פרוץ המלחמה, למרות הירידה המשמעותית במספר התיירים המגיעים לישראל, עשרות אלפי מתנדבים מרחבי העולם בחרו להגיע ולתמוך במדינה באופן מעשי ומשמעותי. תופעה זו יצרה מציאות חדשה בה ארגונים רבים, שעד כה לא עסקו בתחום ההתנדבות, החלו לפתח תכניות מתנדבים.
על רקע זה, חברו יחדיו שני ארגונים מובילים בתחום ההתנדבות:
Repair the World - ארגון יהודי אמריקאי הרואה בהתנדבות משמעותית כלי מרכזי לבניית קהילה יהודית פורחת ומשגשגת.
עמותת יהל - עמותה ישראלית בעלת ניסיון של 15 שנה בהפעלת תכניות התנדבות מגוונות עבור מתנדבים מרחבי העולם.
אנו מזהים את הפוטנציאל העצום הטמון בשדה ההתנדבות הבינלאומי. בנקודת הזמן הנוכחית, חשוב להתמקד בשלושה יעדים מרכזיים:

המשך עידוד הגעתם של מתנדבים חדשים

הכשרה מקצועית וחיזוק התשתיות הארגוניות בגופים הקולטים מתנדבים

הבטחת המשכיות המגמה החיובית גם לאחר סיום המלחמה
לקידום יעדים אלה, יזמנו כנס מקצועי שיתמקד בפיתוח וחיזוק תחום ההתנדבות הבינלאומית בישראל.
Service Matters:
Israel Summit
We recognize the enormous potential in the field of international volunteering. At this point in time, it is important to focus on three central objectives:

Continuing to encourage the arrival of new volunteers

Professional training and strengthening organizational infrastructure in organizations that operate volunteer programs

Ensuring the continuation of this positive trend even after the war ends.
Key Summit Focus Areas
Youth Centers
Connect with young people, providing opportunities to practice English, and offer a window into a broader experience of the world.
After School Programs
Volunteer in an afterschool program through the Welfare system, supporting younger at-risk children. Assist with homework and foster the development of healthy relationships.
Special Needs Populations
Collaborate with a local organizations that offer employment opportunities to those with additional needs.
Food Security
Contribute directly to the most basic needs of soldiers, families and individuals in need by supporting local community food halls that have adapted to reach further into their community.
Elderly Center
Extend a helping hand to elderly citizens during these challenging times by providing companionship and listening to their stories.
Weekly Group Volunteering
During these collective experiences, you may contribute to refurbishing a community center, organizing a joyful fair for at-risk youth, planning an enjoyable outing for elderly residents, supporting Israeli agriculture with hands-on work, participating in community cleanups, and more.
