ABOUT
Developing changemakers through responsible, community-driven volunteering
Yahel Israel, founded in 2009, is an educational nonprofit dedicated to service learning and community partnership in Israel. At the heart of our work are Yahel’s Volunteering Hubs - vibrant centers in Haifa, Central Israel, Jerusalem and the South - that serve as the foundation for all our programs. Through these hubs, volunteers take part in meaningful local initiatives that strengthen communities and provide real, on-the-ground support.
From this foundation, Yahel runs its flagship Social Change Fellowship, multi-week service-learning programs, and a wide range of short-term volunteer opportunities in partnership with universities, Jewish federations, and other organizations. Over the past 16 years, thousands of participants have engaged in these programs, leaving with the skills, perspective, and commitment to continue making an impact long after their time in Israel.

Our Mission
Yahel trains, supports and inspires individuals and organizations to take part in and lead responsible and sustainable volunteering in Israel alongside local community members. We equip people with the tools and skills to take initiative and become life-long leaders of social change.

Our Vision
At Yahel we envision a world where individuals and communities have the skills and the power to take initiative and effect change in their environment. We strive to create a nuanced conversation about, and engagement with, Israel, that is informed by the work of social change makers and the life experiences of the people they serve.
