SERVICE LEARNING DAYS
Transform Your Israel Program with Yahel's Action-Oriented Service Learning
Yahel enhances your Israel program through transformative service learning experiences, connecting groups with local communities and social changemakers across Israel's diverse society for deeper cultural understanding and meaningful impact.

Our Service Learning Model
Yahel Israel's service learning model emphasizes responsible and sustainable volunteering in Israel alongside local community members. Through this, we strive to create tangible and lasting change in the communities we serve. Our approach integrates direct service with local partner organizations, contextual education through seminars and site visits, and meaningful encounters with Israeli changemakers from diverse backgrounds. Participants work side-by-side with community members on grassroots projects while exploring complex social issues, fostering both community impact and deeper cultural understanding of Israeli society's challenges and innovations.
How we’ve adapted since October 7
Since October 7th, the need across Israel has been unprecedented and critical. Every community has been impacted—whether those in the Gaza envelope directly attacked that day, or communities nationwide that have lost relatives, businesses, or suffered military trauma. This collective sense of loss has been felt across the entire nation.
Israel had never experienced such a moment, making it our responsibility to respond meaningfully. We shifted from a program-oriented organization to one that is regionally focused, leveraging our established network of grassroots partners positioned to address immediate ground-level needs. Our regional volunteer hubs in Haifa and the North, the South, Jerusalem, and Central Israel created infrastructure that streamlined this response.

Responding with Purpose
Today, we support organizations like Birthright, Tlalim, Masa, and Routes Travel by integrating immersive volunteer experiences into their programming, while running shorter-term programs for organizations such as Camp Ramah and URJ. Through deep community roots, we understand local needs and recognize that poorly executed short-term volunteering can harm communities. Our expertise ensures groups engage in this critical work responsibly and sustainably, maximizing positive impact while respecting community needs.
