Amir is a seventh-generation Israeli who grew up in Ashkelon. Now retired, he lives in Tel Aviv and is a proud grandfather of four.
Amir was the founding director of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC), the public and legal advocacy arm of the Reform movement in Israel. In that role, he was involved in a wide range of civil society, public, and political struggles to build a more pluralistic Israel.
He later spent 25 years as Israel Director of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ, serving as a Shaliach (emissary), director of its Israel office, and VP for Israel and Overseas Operations. In these roles, he led hundreds of projects, programs, and partnerships guided by one central strategy: building strong, living bridges between Israel and the Diaspora.
