Nathaniel Katz
Board Member | Yahel Alum
Nathaniel Katz is an early-career nonprofit and community leader based in Toronto with a passion for social impact, education, and community development. He currently works as a law clerk and plans to pursue a Juris Doctor, with a growing focus on citizenship and migration-related law. His work and academic interests center on immigration, refugee protection, and access to legal status, informed by both research and hands-on experience supporting newcomer communities.
Nathaniel holds a Master of Arts in International Development and Globalization from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Sociology from Queen’s University. While at Queen’s, he served two terms as President of Hillel Queen’s, representing approximately 1,200 Jewish students and working closely with student leaders, university administrators, and community partners to strengthen campus life and foster inclusive, engaged communities.
Nathaniel was also a member of the 2022–2023 Yahel Social Change Fellowship in Haifa, where he mentored immigrant youth through English instruction, academic support, and leadership programming in schools and community centers. During this time, he also completed an internship with ALEF, supporting the Eritrean and Sudanese asylum-seeking community in northern Israel through community-based initiatives focused on social inclusion and empowerment. This experience deepened his commitment to migration-related work and cross-cultural engagement. He is honored to return to Yahel as a member of its Board of Directors and looks forward to supporting the organization’s mission of empowering communities through meaningful service, leadership, and partnership.
