Shannon Zietoun

Roissy en Brie, France

A seasoned professor of sociology, anthropology, and French, Shannon brings a decade of academic expertise alongside deep hands-on experience working with vulnerable populations. Her unique combination of scholarly insight and grassroots community engagement makes her an ideal partner for meaningful social impact work.

Shannon's commitment to Israel runs deep, having volunteered extensively in the country and made multiple trips since October 7. She's also worked with diverse populations in Paris, supporting migrants, individuals experiencing homelessness, and youth facing family difficulties. Her multilingual abilities and cross-cultural competency shine through her international volunteer work.

Beyond traditional academic work, Shannon has served as a rugby reporter-photographer in Chile, demonstrating her ability to connect with communities in unexpected settings. She approaches every situation with critical thinking skills honed through years of examining social dynamics from multiple perspectives.

Shannon has a particular fondness for Tel Aviv, drawn to its cultural diversity and vibrant expression of freedom. She's excited about her upcoming Yahel experience as an opportunity to discover new dimensions of Israeli society while contributing her full range of skills to support vulnerable communities.

Wondering what a day in the life of a fellow looks like?
