Anna Vasileva
Yahel Social Change Fellowship City Coordinator - Haifa
Born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Anna decided to leave home and make aliyah aged just 17. She pursued a Psychology degree at Hebrew University, choosing Romance Studies (i.e. French and mainly Italian culture and language) as a second major. In her graduation year, as the war in Ukraine broke out, Anna joined a volunteering delegation to Poland, providing social and psychological support to Ukrainian refugees at a temporary shelter. That trip was a major turning point. It became clear to her that she wanted to preserve that sense of meaning in her life. This direction brought her to work with autistic young adults, volunteer in a free dental clinic, work at summer camps, then to the mental health field, before ultimately towards coordinating our Fellows in Haifa.
Anna defines herself as a citizen of the world and is passionate about exploring different cultures and reflecting on the societal dynamics around her. In her free time, she enjoys social dancing, singing, and failing at New York Times Connections game.
